Nigerian students abroad denounce violence in the UK and advise prudence.

The recent unrest and violence in many regions of England and Northern Ireland have deeply concerned the National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANS-Diaspora).

Comr. Olajesu Osalade, NANS-Diaspora's public relations officer, stated, "We unequivocally condemn the rioting that has erupted since July 30, 2024, following the tragic events in Southport on July 29."

The group expressed sympathy to the friends and family of those impacted by the spate of stabbings in Southport, highlighting the deep toll that the senseless act of violence has taken on the neighborhood.

Nigerian students in the impacted areas were advised by NANS-Diaspora to use caution, remain informed, and stay away from locations where there is unrest. The group collaborates closely with community leaders, Nigerian embassies, and local authorities to guarantee student safety.

The President of NANS-Diaspora, Comr. Chris Juwon Fayomi, stated, "We demand peace and understanding, stressing that violence and false information only serve to divide communities and create further harm."

The group emphasized the value of solidarity and fortitude in the face of hardship and urged students to get in touch with their local NANS-Diaspora representatives for information and help.
