Six Soldiers in Nigerian Army Are Fired for "Running Away During Boko Haram Attack"



Six Nigerian Army soldiers have been fired for reportedly running away during a Boko Haram attack, according to military sources who spoke with SaharaReporters

There were reports that during the month, Boko Haram attacked a hamlet in Borno State called Damboa, and the soldiers assigned to Operation Lafiya Dole, a counterinsurgency operation in the northeast, abandoned the scene.


More than ten soldiers lost their lives in the attack, according to one of the sources.


The Nigerian Army has not yet acknowledged its own casualties or confirmed the incident, though.

According to the individual who talked with SaharaReporters, the six soldiers were fired for leaving the front lines of combat.

However, the source said that his colleagues' punishment was unfair, claiming that they had abandoned the battlefield because they had run out of amour during their struggle with the terrorists.


The source claims that they were not given enough weapons or ammo to combat Boko Haram insurgents, and as a result, they quickly ran out of ammunition.


Nigerian combatants frequently lament their lack of equipment when facing Boko Haram militants.


Additionally, he held the insurgents' lack of equipment and insufficient firepower responsible for the deaths of those who perished.
